National Public Health Week

In a recent department-wide staff survey, most team members said they believe their work makes a difference in our communities—and we couldn’t agree more.
A strong public health workforce is the backbone of our county’s ability to protect and serve the community. Skilled, dedicated professionals ensure residents receive timely, comprehensive and equitable health services—from disease prevention to emergency response.
One of the four strategic goals outlined in our Strategic Plan (2024–2028) is to build and retain a representative workforce, inclusive of community partners, that is committed to equity.
Several efforts are already complete or currently underway to meet that goal, including:
January – Launched new employee training designed to improve engagement
March – Completed Public Health’s Equitable Workforce Development Plan
Under Development – Standardized department-wide new employee onboarding
Additionally, all staff have access to online and in-person trainings to enhance their professional development and maintain required certifications, such as for CPR and First Aid.
As #NationalPublicHealthWeek comes to a close, we want to thank our Public Health staff who work tirelessly every day to ensure residents have access to the care they need. THANK YOU!
